A MaLa practice
To touch a bead, one at a time, on a string of sacred beads, and to focus the mind on a sensation, a prayer or an intention is a contemplative practice used in many different cultures around the world to quieten the mind and to connect to the heart.
The Yin state of being Embodied, Present without judgement and Receptive is cultivated through the 8 MaLas:
To build a cohesive and transformative contemplative practice the eight fields of practice are explored and cultivated. As one engages and moves through them over time, deeper levels of insight and relaxation are accessed. A more balanced, authentic, and therefore less stressed lifestyle emerges from the practice. Entry point and emphasis vary depending on practitioner’s lifestyle, gender, history and what qualities are important to them. The MaLa path is taught by starting off with foundational practices in each field and then guidance is offered on how to gradually deepen each of the practices. In the resource page (on this site) instructions in the form of handouts, audio and book recommendations, categorized per each field of practice, are available to the participants of MaLa Courses.
